Cemeteries

Currently I have completed the data and photos on eleven cemeteries.  Three are in Le Claire, Iowa, two in Argo, Iowa, four in or near Princeton, Iowa, one near Muscatine, Iowa and one is near Edinburg, Grundy Co., Missouri. I have a small amount for five others. One in Camanche, Iowa, one in Pleasant Valley, Iowa, one in Rock Island, Illinois and two in Princeton, Iowa.  You will find the data files, photos, plot maps (if available) and other items of interest below.

The table below has four columns.  The first column provides the location.  The second column provides a link to some information you may find interesting.  This may include directions to find the cemetery and the GPS coordinates.  There may also be some just plain old general information.  The third column provides a link to the data files.  The fourth column provides a link to the photos.

To find the photo you want to see, first check out the data file.  In most cases there will be both a PDF file and a XLS file of the same information.  For the PDF file you will need Adobe Reader or something along that line.  I have provided a link to Adobe Reader below, if you don’t already have it.  The XLS files will require Microsoft Excel, OpenOffice or something along that line.  I have provided a link below where you can download the FREE OpenOffice program.  I use OpenOffice for most of my needs.  Try it.  It’s great. One word of caution when using OpenOffice. It handles pre 1900 dates fine. However, Microsoft Excel doesn’t. So if you prepare a file in OpenOffice and then someone tries to read it in Excel they will get an error for pre 1900 dates. This is a problem with Excel, not OpenOffice.

After you find the person you want in the data file you will see a lot of information including the photo numbers.  Make a note of the photo numbers, return to this page and click on the “Photos” link in Column 4.  Simply scroll down the list of photos to you find the one you want.

The photos are formatted to 10 inches on the longest side and 100 dpi.  This should be enough to see everything you need and to print if you want to.  It will also allow for fairly quick downloads to view.  If the photo you need is one of those that are very worn and hard to read, I can supply a very high, very large version.  Just Email me and tell me what photo number you need.  I will upload it to a special place and send you a link.  Please don’t ask for one unless you can’t get the information you need off the smaller version.  It takes me time away from other things I want to do.

The headstone and monument photos and the data are not copyrighted so feel free to download and use any that you find there.
