Argo is about 5 miles West of Le Claire, Iowa and is located on county road Z30.  Argo is a very small town but it has two cemeteries.  The Le Claire Prairie Cemetery is in Argo almost straight across the road from the Our Savior Presbyterian Church.  It was incorporated March 22, 1887. It is behind a house so you have to turn East about ½ block to get to it. It’s co-ordinates are N41° 38.027’ W090° 25.873’.

The Argo Cemetery is about 1 mile South of the Le Claire Prairie Cemetery on Z30.  It’s Coordinates are N41° 36.942’ W090° 25.868’.  It is more difficult to find.  From the junction of “Territorial Road”, which is about ½ mile South of the Presbyterian Church, and Z30 go .7 miles South on Z30.  Look for a grassy lane that goes East (left) to a small grove of trees on top of a hill.  The Argo Cemetery is in that grove of trees.

I obtained access to the official records for the Le Claire Prairie Cemetery.  The records for the Argo Cemetery don’t seem to be available.   I went to each of the cemeteries and photographed the head stones and monuments.  If there was any doubt that the photo would be readable due to glare, wear or anything else I took a number of photos.  Then, for the Le Claire Prairie Cemetery, I compared my data to the photographs.  I created the data for the Argo Cemetery from the photos of the stones and data I downloaded from the Internet.  If I couldn’t verify the downloaded information I didn’t use it.  I made corrections as required.  I did everything possible to make sure my data file was correct.
